INTUG Joins with CIOForum, EuroCIO & Beltug to Explore GDPR

Together with international association EuroCIO and Belgian associations CIOforum and Beltug, INTUG took part in a joint session to work on members’ questions regarding the GDPR, with a special focus on IT vendor assessment.

As companies work hard to ensure their compliance when the GDPR comes into effect on 25 May 2018, the event provided insights from legal experts Peter Van Dyck, Senior Associate at Allen & Overy and Ilse Winters, Director Legal for Aveve.

Jörn Wittman, Managing Director of SCOPE Europe spoke about the creation of a draft Code of Conduct for CSPs developed within the C-SIG group of the European Commission, in which INTUG and EuroCIO were involved. Pierre Chastenet, Deputy Head of Unit for Cloud and Software, from the European Commission, weighed in on the support of the Commission for such a Code of Conduct and the cooperation between the EC and the business users.

Danielle Jacobs, President of INTUG and General Manager of Beltug, and Jean-Pierre Bernaerts, CIO of Indaver, shared a jointly compiled list with key questions for companies to ask IT suppliers in order to ensure compliance with the GDPR. These questions are being used by Beltug to create a new GDPR tool for members, in the form of a questionnaire for the IT vendors.

This collaboration is an excellent example of the possibilities available through the cooperation of these four associations, providing a key international dimension that reflects the realities of today’s ICT and digital technology environment.
