Shining a light on data protection laws and IT business users

"Data protection laws aim to do the very necessary job of safeguarding consumers ... but we cannot neglect the impact on the companies that must meet these requirements:" INTUG Chairman Danielle Jacobs brings attention to the concerns of business users of IT and digital technology in private and public entities regarding data protection laws, in a new blog published by the ITU.

Danielle highlights international harmonization, the translation of lengthy, complex legal documents into IT implementation, and the lag between technological advances and legislation as a few of the reasons why it is so important to consider business users when drafting regulations that will impact them.

Danielle Jacobs also took part in the panel on “Strengthening collaboration in cybersecurity” at ITU 2018 Telecom World, in Durban, South Africa, on 13 September, where she represented the voice of the business user.
