Chair

Danielle Jacobs was appointed Chairman in May 2011; before that she was INTUG’s Vice President Europe. She is also General Manager of BELTUG, the Belgian user group representing the Belgian professional users of communications technology and services.

Danielle is a member of the Belgian Consultative Committee on Telecommunications and a member of the Board of DNS.be. This is a Beltug, ISPA and Agoria established DNS and a non-profit organization. Its mission is to register domain names under the top level dot.be.

Danielle is married with 2 children.

Executive Vice President

Nick White is Executive Vice President of INTUG. He was Chairman of the Telecommunications Managers Association (TMA), now the Communications Management Association (CMA), the UK User Group, from July 1990 until July 1993.

Nick has worked in IT all his career, mostly in telecommunications. In addition to his current job at Unilever focusing on information standards, he acts as a telecommunications advisor on global purchasing of telecommunications products and services. He joined Unilever in March 1991.

Prior to Unilever, Nick worked for Midland Bank for over 8 years, implementing a strategy centered around an integrated voice and data network, which was used internally and to provide value added services through a subsidiary company, Midland Network Services, of which he was Chairman.

Before Midland, Nick worked for Reuters for nearly 10 years, managing software and engineering development, and production for worldwide telecommunications and information systems, including the Reuter Monitor and Dealing products. He also worked as a systems engineer for English Electric Computers (ICL), and as a real-time systems analyst for IPC Business Press (Reed Publishing).

Nick is an Oxford mathematics graduate, a British Computer Society member, a Chartered Engineer, a local preacher and is married with 5 children.

Board Members

Leonard Pera worked in the international department of Spanish telecoms operator Telefónica for 5 years and was also involved in the start-up activities of Telefónica in Italy and Germany. Later on Leonard joined T-Systems where he lead the telecommunications department and the portfolio and partner management unit.

In 2010 he started his own company to help develop the Information Society in Spain, especially helping city councils and public administrations to provide digital services to the cities via wireless services.

Leonard has a degree in Economic Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, an Executive MBA from the Instituto de Empresa Business School, a Post Degree from the Diplomatic School and a Post Degree in Telecommunications from the Polytechnic University Madrid.

He is President of the AUTELSI International Commission and a Member of the Consultancy body of the Spanish Telecommunications Ministry.

Paul Brislen Paul Brislen stepped into the role of chief executive of the Telecommunications Users’ Association of NZ in early 2011. Since then he’s battled mobile termination rates, the threat of a 10-year regulatory holiday under UFB, international mobile roaming rates and copyright legislation whilst keeping a watching brief on the UFB and RBI rollout, spectrum auctions, content debates and TUANZ’s ultimate aim – a faster, smarter, more connected New Zealand.

A journalist by trade, past roles include writing for Unlimited Magazine, Idealog and Top Gear NZ among others as well as editing Computerworld New Zealand. After leaving journalism, Brislen joined Vodafone New Zealand as external communications manager, before becoming head of corporate communications. Brislen is regularly called on to comment on tech issues on both radio and TV.
